What is Microsoft 365 Copilot?

Turn your words into a powerful productivity tool

You've likely seen the headlines in recent days, but what is Microsoft 365 Copilot and how can it help your business?

In short, Copilot is an AI chatbot that works in conjunction with emails, files, meetings, and Microsoft's new Business Chat service.

According to Microsoft, "the AI-powered assistant combines the power of large language models (LLMs) with your data in the Microsoft Graph and the Microsoft 365 apps to turn your words into the most powerful productivity tool on the planet."

It works with Microsoft 365 tools in two ways. First, it is embedded in the Microsoft 365 apps such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams and more. Microsoft has also announced an new experience in recent days known as Business Chat. This works across the LLM, Microsoft 365 apps, and end users' data from Outlook calendar, emails, chats, documents, meetings and contacts.

This enables users to to do new things such as natural language prompts like “Tell my team how we updated the product strategy,” and it will generate a status update based on the morning’s meetings, emails and chat threads.
